Beth Dukhrone or House of Memories, an exposition of pictures and personal effects of three heads of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, was inaugurated by Major Archbishop of the Church Mar Baselios Cleemis at Major Archbishop’s House, Pattom, Kerala recently.
The House of Memories shall have the Photographs and personal belongings of Archbishop Geevarghese Mar Ivanios, Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios, and Major Archbishop Catholicos Moran Mor Cyril Baselios exhbited at the museum, which will be open for the public and for research.
The display is divided into three sections dedicated to each of the three heads of the church. Photographs will trace their formative years, their families, and how they rose to lead the church and their responsibilities. Their visits abroad, meetings with visiting dignitaries, episcopal ordination, pastoral visits, last moments and funeral offer an insight into their life and times.
The exhibits related to Mar Ivanios include letters and documents, vestments, headgear, and footwear, cyclostyle machine, books written by him, coins, rosary, furniture, and so on collected from across the State and even Rome.
The Museum will also have photographs of family and the religious and social life of Mar Gregorios, his gramophone, records of Christian sings, and doctoral certificate are on display.
The most number of objects belong to Moran Mor Cyril Baselios. Photographs showing him with various Popes, receiving Major Archbishop Mar Cleemis, with Bishop Powathil, both of whom were classmates.
In his address, Major Archbishop Mar Cleemis said the museum would help keep alive memories of the three heads of the church and their message of peace and love for humanity.
