Why Ravana have TEN HEADS?
The demon king Ravana, the bad guy of Ramayana who kidnapped Goddess Sita and want to teach a lesson to Lord Rama. Mythology is fascinating when narrated by relevant resources. A written story from any holy scripture can has the possibility to become a fairy tale! Religious emotions make then awesome and enthralling.
Gods have many heads and manifestation. But Ravana is the only demon who have ten heads and too much knowledgeable to challenge gods. So, why he has ten heads? Is it his manifestation or just a belief that a demon like Ravana must look like that.
There are several stories in holy books and to believe it can give a base of understanding. We live today on 21st century and technology can peel any doubt, but faith has no logic, it runs on your inclination and social definitions.

Power of Penance
Ravana was a tough sadhak, his vigour to do penance was unmatchable. One to appease Lord Brahma, he chopped his head ten times, and each time after chopping, a new head appeared by the power of Penance. So he has ten heads.
Immortal Heads
Lord Brahma was happy after seeing his austerity, as obvious he offered a boon to Ravana. Ravana asked for immortality. But as this was the right of Gods, Brahma denied. But because Lord Brahma promised, he have the nectar of immortality which save in the navel of Ravana. So, he has many heads.
Knowledge Heads !
Ravana was a great scholar. He is master of six Shashtras and four Vedas. So his ten heads represents his knowledge.
Human Traits
Ten Heads represents 10 human negative traits. 1. Ego 2. Pride 3. Regret 4. Anger 5. Hate 6. Fear 7. Jealousy 8. Greed 9. Lust 10. Will
Surely you can understand that Ravana represents the bad part of our realities. He embodies the wrong doings. Rama was ideal and pure. Killing Ravana is like killing our bad traits and evils of society.
