Exams days are crucial for every child. Children have to study and perform good in exam. And usually a child comes under stress during exams. And every parent just want that child should destress early. There are few yoga tips that can make learning during exam not that stressing and will add fun factor too.
The power of the breathing
During exam season proper breathing will be the most important way to help calm your child nerves and focus the mind. Breathing properly is the most important thing we can do to destress. And its simple to learn and apply. Breathing completely like filling the whole of the lungs and expelling all of the air, is known as diaphragmatic breathing. This slows the heart rate, brings the blood pressure down, clears the mind and relaxes the muscles. The breath is important as a way of regulating emotions.
How to use breathing to beat exam stress:
- Lie or sit, and close your eyes if you can.
- Breathe through your nose (with your mouth shut) and bring your focus to the space between your nostrils. Feel the coolness of the air coming in, and the warmth of the air coming out. This will help you push other thoughts out of your mind and help to still the mind.
- Now focus on breathing from the diaphragm. Relax your tummy and put your right hand on your belly button and left hand on your heart.
Imagine you are blowing up a balloon inside your tummy. The hand on your heart should stay still. - Take 3-5 breaths.
Stay Active
Researches show that it is important to keep active and take regular movement breaks while revising.
Having relaxed muscles in turn helps to relax the mind and therefore simple yoga stretches are perfect for a movement break. Forward bends help to calm, and inversions (such as downward Dog Pose) send fresh blood supply to the brain, all of which help the thought process. Neck rolls, wrist rotations and twists(such as swaying tree pose and sea horse) all help to counteract the stiffness caused by sitting for long periods.
Message is straight practice deep breathing and stay active while studying or revising. Active learning has significant advantages. The advantages include better memory retention, better understanding of concepts as well as have fun too.
