Beating Coronavirus (COVID-19) Through the Power of Breath

Beating Coronavirus (COVID-19) Through the Power of Breath

Of all the humongous information and articles on Coronavirus, one thing that stands out most is the incubation period. When the outbreak first happened, it was said to be 2 days to 14 days. Over time it changed and while the minimum period of 2 days remained the other end went longer to 24, then 29 and even more days. The longer it stays, the stronger it grows, with or without apparent symptoms.

The other thing that stands out is that pneumonia is the real and bigger killer and so this disease was also called NCP (Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia). The virus attaches to the lung cells where it sets about replicating itself.

Now, based on this information, it becomes evident that if we are able to somehow interfere with the virus’s incubation and not give it ideal conditions to proliferate, we will have done ourselves a great favor and in many ways fenced ourselves from its worst effects.

To avoid giving the virus an ideal condition in our lungs to replicate itself, we need to look after our lung health and expel stale air as often and completely as possible.

One simple technique to expel maximum stale air is detailed below:

1. Relax your chest and belly area, exhale as much as air as can be comfortably done through the mouth;

2. Hold the breath without inhalation for a few seconds and expel air through the mouth again, reasonably forcefully but without discomforting yourself. Try to expel air from the lowest part of your lungs;

3. Repeat step 2 a few times until you feel your lungs have nearly emptied;

4. Breathe slowly through the nostrils until the lungs are comfortably filled with fresh air;

5. Repeat the exhalation as in steps 1 and 2, viz. exhale through the mouth in short bursts a few times until lungs are almost emptied;

6. Do the inhalation and exhalation cycle 10/12 times and you’ll have a lot of fresh air in the lungs;

While doing the exhalation, you might expectorate or breathe out mucus/phlegm. Do not swallow the phlegm/sputum/mucus. Spit it out safely in an appropriate way.

Please follow these instructions and exhale your way to great, healthy and coronavirus-free lungs!
