The Conclave: A Sacred Assembly
The conclave, derived from the Latin cum clave meaning “with a key,” signifies the seclusion of the cardinal electors within the Vatican. Cardinals under the age of 80 are eligible to vote, and they reside in the Domus Sanctae Marthae, isolated from external influences.
