- Swaminarayan Akshardham Offers Daily Hot Food Packets to New Delhi’s Poor and Needy Affected by Coronavirus Pandemic
During the current national lockdown to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi is providing free packaged hot meals daily to the needy as specified by the local government.
The healthy meals, comprising of mix vegetable sabzi, chapatis, rice and achar, are hygienically cooked, prepared and packed by sadhus and volunteers of Swaminarayan Akshardham and delivered to the community’s poor and needy in New Delhi.
Similar charity distributions are taking place at other BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha centres across India, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Nagpur, Surat, Silvassa, Varodara, Rajkot, Junagadh, Bharuch and others.
Other Ongoing Efforts During the Pandemic
Swaminarayan Akshardham also continues to provide public awareness, education, encouragement and guidance about the coronavirus pandemic measures through its satsang centres to devotees and the greater community. Regular educational messages about the seriousness of the COVID-19 global pandemic, important personal and public hygiene steps, the need for social distancing, self-isolation and other measures are passed on. The necessity of completely and continuously respecting, supporting and following all government guidelines for health and public safety, including national lockdown, is repeatedly emphasized. Regular online satsang programmes offer spiritual guidance and counselling to adults, youths and children, reinforcing moral values, family unity, and social responsibility and harmony.
