With the ongoing spread of COVID-19 recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and asked Indians to imply Janta Curfew on themselves, a curfew by the people and on the people and for the people.



Though right now seeing the current situation PM has only asked for Janta Curfew on 22 March that is coming Sunday. The only purpose for implying Janta Curfew is to promote Social Distancing and to remain homebound for those hours in a day.

Social distancing:

Social Distancing is a public health practice that aims to prevent sick people from coming in close contact with healthy people in order to reduce opportunities for disease transmission. It can include large-scale measures like canceling group events or closing public spaces, as well as individual decisions such as avoiding crowds.

With COVID-19, the goal of social distancing right now is to slow down the outbreak in order to reduce the chance of infection among high risk population.

With increase in number of COVID-19 cases globally it has become important for all of us to understand Social Distancing, the term that is being discussed in media worldwide. It is being said that Social Distancing can help effectively in slowing the spread of COVID-19.

While promoting the idea of Janta Curfew Prime Minister is trying to insist the idea of Social Distancing being followed by entire nation from 7 AM in the morning to 9 PM at night on 22 March on Sunday so that people remain inside their homes throughout the day. This home bounding for a day practiced by entire nation will help in blocking the chain that would otherwise take more people in its grip. But this one day at home will help the government and health professional to tackle the spread of coronavirus to some extent. This one day exercise by all Indians can certainly slow down the spread of COVID-19.

According to a tally by Johns Hopkins University more than 272,000 people have contracted the virus and at least 11,310 have died globally till date.

Thus the need of the hour is to follow Janta Curfew and follow what the Government, the authorities and health professional are saying and keep yourself indoor at home and spend some quality time with your family but also be a participant in this process of slowing the spread of coronavirus. Be healthy and Be indoor in your homes and protect yourself, your family members, kids and elderly adults from coronavirus. And if possible ask your helps and maids to not come for work as they also deserve the choice and right to be healthy and safe in their homes.



Though the malls, multiplexes will remain closed  but the shops of essential things like groceries, vegetables and medicines will remain open. In his address to nation the PM also stressed that people should avoid buying things in excess . Don’t panic but be a responsible citizen at this time of global medical emergency , only follow what the authorities are saying. Stay away from fake news being circulated on digital media and generate awareness about coronavirus and how it can be tackled by all of us.
