Detroit joins 25+ US cities to celebrate ‘Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’ Day
Bengaluru, 11th July, 2018: Joining a league of 20+ American and Canadian cities, Detroit’s Mayor declared the 7th of July as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Day for ‘inspiring millions with his teachings and service projects, and focus on the benefits of Yoga and Meditation.’
Michael Duggan, Mayor of Detroit, issued a proclamation calling for the people of Detroit to join him in thanking The Art of Living and the International Association for Human Values, organisations founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, for ‘their commitment to improving communities around the world.’
The State of Michigan also issued a Special Tribute to Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for leading an unprecedented movement to create a stress-free, violence-free society.
Apart from 25 cities that celebrate days in his honour, Gurudev has also received the Highest Civilian Honours from 3 countries, over 35 honours and awards from Governments across the world, and over 15 Honorary Doctorates, in recognition of his global humanitarian work.
