The First ever “World Yoga Festival” in Goa
Over the years goa has seen many festivals – film, music, hippie and many more but this year from February 1 – 4 the International Sadguru Foundation (India) and World Yoga Community (USA) in collaboration with Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) are organising first World Yoga Festival in Goa.
The four day festival began on February 1 at Tapobhumi-Kundaim; while ‘Goa’s Yogic Era Begins’, a mass beach meditation programme, scheduled on Miramar beach on February 3, will be the main attraction of the event, informed Brahmidevi, president of festival committee to the media.
The festival, organised to unite the entire world on “Yoga” and share the knowledge of Indian culture, is being well attended by delegates from seven countries including USA, Italy, Thailand, London, Vietnam and Dubai, informed Dileepkumar Thankappan, president of World Yoga. Morethan 300 international delegates and around four thousand national delegates are taking part in this four-day festival, which has yoga classes, panel discussion, music, asana competition, workshops, Vedic chanting and many more.
The inaugural function held on February 1, at 8 pm at Tapobhumi premises at Kundaim in the presence of founder of International Sadguru Foundation Brahmeshanand Swami. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai, Housing Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar, Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo, GTDC chairman Nilesh Cabral will take part in the festival.
According to the press release, At the mass beach meditation programme on February 3, Goan woman purohit will conduct Yadnyopathy at Miramar beach. Concluding function of the festival will be held at 1 pm on 4th February.
