Hindu Americans denounce the attack on a Pittsburgh synagogue
- Hindu American Community stands with the Jewish Community in the hour of their grief
Chicago, IL – Oct. 27th, 2018 – Hindu Americans stand with the Jewish community as it mourns the lives of 11 victims of a cowardly hate crime perpetrated on a Synagogue in Pittsburgh. These hate crimes have become all too frequent targeting one group or another in this great country. We strongly denounce the violent hate crime that has taken the life of 11 innocent people as they celebrated their culture in their place of worship.
Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA (HSS) stands in solidarity with the victims of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. The horrendous act at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, shocks all HSS members, as it does all people of faith. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims. Dr. Vinod Ambastha, HSS USA President said: “HSS stands with the Jewish Community in Pittsburgh and across the country as it deals with this tragedy.” He added “HSS stands against hate crimes and terrorism in all its ugly forms.”
We, the Hindu American community know all too well what it is to be a victim of hate crimes and terrorism. We relate with the Jewish community as it experiences such extraordinary pain and anguish. Accepting and respecting differences, a hallmark of democracy and a proud American tradition, must guide our actions. Prof. Ved Nanda, HSS America Zone President, said, “We grieve and mourn with the Jewish community in Pittsburgh and across the country. The hateful rhetoric that is dividing the country must stop.” He added, “We earnestly hope that the anti-Semitic rhetoric is rejected and denounced by all.”
