Hyderabad, June 28:Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has sanctioned Rs 6 crore for the temples in the Old City to celebrate Bonalu festival on grand scale.
Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav, chairing a review meeting with officials to review for the arrangements of Bonalu in twin cities said that the arrangements for the Boanlu should be smooth, grand and without any inconvenience to the public during the festival.
The members of the temple committees in the Old City gave the details of the works to be taken up in their respective temples. The Minister directed the officials to take the note of the problems raised by the members of the temple committees and to resolve them within 48 hours and give the action taken report to him.
Meanwhile Union information and broadcasting minister M Venkaiah Naidu has participated in the Bonalu celebrations organised formally by the state government at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi and offered `pattu vastralu’ to Goddess Mahankali on the occasion.
Venkaiah Naidu said celebration of Bonalu by Telangana Bhavan for the third consecutive year would go a long way in popularising the culture and traditions of state in the country as the Bonalu marks the changing seasons and also stressed that this festival alerts the people to gear up for the seasonal change.
