The ISKON’s Jhulan Yatra Festival 2017 at Sri Dham Mayapur will be held from 3rd to 7th August at the Radha Madhava’s Temple (Srila Prabhupada Ashram).
Jhulan is one of the eternal Astaka Lila pastimes that Sri Sri Radha Madhava and Their associates perform daily in Gokul Vrindavan. Every year the Mayapur Vaisnava Senior Youth organize the Jhulan Yatra festival for the pleasure of Sri Sri Radha Madhava under the guidance of H.G. Jananivas Prabhu and H.G. Pankajanghri Prabhu. The festival is held for five days and it is one of the highlight festivals in the ISKON calendar.
The festival shall feature kirtans, bhajans, offering of lamps, fireworks, acrobatics, stage programs, children’s activities, special activities on Balarama Purnima, as well as distributing thousands of plates of sumptuous prasadam.
Jhulan Yatra is one of the most important festivals for the followers of Lord Krishna celebrated in the monsoon month of Shravan. After Holi and Janmashthami, it is the biggest and most popular religious occasion of the Vaishnavas. Known for its spectacular display of decorated swings, song and dance, Jhulan is a joyful festival celebrating the Radha-Krishna love story coupled with the romantic fervor of the rainy season in India.
