Envisioning the Path for the Needy
K Gopalachari is a B Com final year, of Netra Vidyalaya Degree College. He is the winner in national cricket tournament for the blind held at Anantapur & Gujarat in the month of November 2016. “I acknowledge gratitude to Sri HH Chinnajeeyar Swamiji for providing facilities to achieve medals at the state and national levels. P Ganesh, intermediate Student of Netra Vidyalaya Junior College participated and was awarded as champion in Eenadu Chess Open Tournament in November 2016. Eenadu President Sriman Venkatesh appreciated Ganesh play as extra ordinary and suggested him to participate in many open Chess tournament in the future. Ganesh participated on 2nd Jan 2017 National Chess tournament at Anantapur on the occasion Louis Braille birthday.
These are just two of the many such examples that we hear at Nethra Vidyalaya that has been formed under the able guidance of Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami in Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. These institutes have been mainstreaming the blind and low-vision children and also helping them to make a living by themselves.
Visakhapatnam is the house for Netra Vidyalaya High School. It houses classes from one to ten. Colleges, both Junior and Degree Colleges are located in Hyderabad within Jeeyar Swami’s campus. Both these institutes are doing enormous service to human, especially the children in need. They are providing the much need inspiration to overcome their handicap and also join the mainstream.
Nethra Vidyalaya is a group of institutions focused on providing value-based quality education, technology-assisted learning, self-reliant life-style to the blind children. Special schools are the only place where blind children can be enabled to blend into an everyday life of dignity and self sufficiency.
Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami is personal interest and care for the visually challenged children is the core foundation for an ever-evolving and ever-improving institution. And the world class education for the needy is provided free of cost to the children.
It is the first institution in the world that enabled blind children to take exams on laptops without the assistance of a scribe, thereby increasing the confidence among the children.
Eighty per cent of the outgoing students have secured jobs and are leading a livelihood making their parents and family proud and happy, claims the management which runs these institutes.
“Our students have been key players in winning many national level games,” observes the principal of Nethra Vidyalaya Junior College, Hyderabad.
“Hoslistic approach allows our students to learn, explore, relish, and excel in many activities such as Yoga, music and dance,” points out the head of Nethra Vidyala High School in Visakhapatnam.
