‘Sankalp 2019’- A month-long nationwide campaign against drug abuse and its addiction

Divya Jyoti Jagrati Santhan’s Drug Abuse Eradication Program – Bodh is playing a key role in bringing awareness against drug abuse in the society since the last three decades. In the same league, under the guidance of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, the program has started a month long awareness drive named “SANKALP” which kicked off on 31st may 2019 (Internationally celebrated as World No Tobaaco Day). While generating awareness about the dangers of tobacco consumption and the illegal smuggling of many other drugs, this campaign will continue till June 26, 2019 (World Drug Day 2019).
Today, smoking cigarettes in society have been so acceptable that in the movies, offices, colleges or schools, its visuals do not even bother anyone and is considered as a reflection of society. The use of hookah, paan and mouth freshener, which is said to be the biggest means of cancer of the mouth, is being sold openly under the nose of administration and sometimes with the help of it.
In such a scenario, the situation cannot be ignored in the face of any major step to be taken by the incumbent government, because according to statistics every year 7 to 8 crore people are killed due to addiction. Therefore, this campaign called “Sankalp” is being organized in many states of the country to raise awareness against the use of these toxic substances and their gripping addiction. With the instrumentality of Dramas, workshop, videos, experiments, activity and many other tools people are being motivated to take pledge against them. Also, in the auspicious guidance of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, the Preachers of the organization through lectures and presentations discusses the after effects of consuming drugs amongst children, parents and youth.
This program is being run in different states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Chattisgarh covering the urban, rural and semi-rural setups. In some of the following illustrations, you can get an overview in this regard.
