A Session on Education at DPS R. K. Puram, New Delhi : Social initiative of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan
May 17, 2018
Program Lead of Manthan SVK, social initiative of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, Sadhvi Deepa Bharti ji was invited to Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram on 11 May 2018 as a guest speaker for the students of Sociology Department of the school.
Representing Manthan Sampoorna Vikas Kendra, she delivered a powerful speech on the topic “The Two Faces of Education – Privileged and Underprivileged” also focusing on Max Weber’s theory of Empathetic Understanding. She conducted an extremely interactive 2-hour session with over 200 grade 11 and 12 students of the school.
The session started with an ice breaker and brainstorming activity wherein she asked the students to differentiate between the facilities privileged students get and the underprivileged children cannot even dream of. This introductory activity served as a mind opener for the audience, after which she proceeded onto giving a more visual and explanatory insight on the stark differences in the lives of privileged and underprivileged children.
Showing various heart wrenching videos and sharing powerful insights and examples from Manthan SVK program, Sadhvi ji attempted to draw a bridge between the seemingly disconnected lives of children studying in the best school of India and children who can only dream of books. Dr. Aishwarya R. Sharma, from the Sociology department of the school, praised the initiative, while many students came up to the volunteers to ask for more information to be able to contribute for Manthan SVK initiatives.
Conclusively, the session, with His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji’s grace, was a successfully eye-opening one.
