The John Templeton foundation appointed Dr. Chinmay Pandya (Pro Vice Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya) as a member of selection committee of the Templeton award. This is the worldwide highest award in the field of spirituality.
The value of The Templeton prize exceeds even the Nobel Prize that honours a living person for exceptional contribution for affirming life’s spiritual dimension, through insights, discovery or practical works. Hether Templeton Dil, Who is the current director of John Templeton foundation (Grand daughter of John Templeton), says that her grandfather felt that spirituality is the highest realm for uplifting humanity and this point was being ignored while selecting for the Nobel Prize. The monetary prize of Templeton award exceeds for more than the Nobel Prize.
This award has been presented annually since 1973 till date only five Indian have been honored with this award namely, Dr. Radhakrishan, Mother Teresa, Dalai Lama, Baba Amte, Pandurang Shastri Athwale.
With respect to Dr. Pandaya’s dedication towards spirituality and his par experience in the field of psychology, he has been chosen as the member of this prestigious awards committee. He will be a member of the nine member selection committee for next three year.
