Over 1,00,000 from all 2100 locations around the country connected virtually to learn the secrets for a happy, stress-free life from the founder of The Art of Living, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, in one of the biggest digital events of the year.
Right from the Andaman islands to the naxal belt in Chattisgarh and premier institutes like the IITs, AIIMS and JNU, survivors of the Gujarat floods, to the remote regions of Tripura and Manipur, the Happiness Program with Gurudev brought together people from all walks of life.
Bengaluru, 20 August, 2017: From the Naxal belt in Chhattisgarh to premier institutes such as IITs and AIIMS, from Latur in Maharashtra to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, from Jammu to Kanyakumari, over a lakh people connected virtually to learn secrets for a happy, joyful and stress-free life from the founder of The Art of Living, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Approximately, 2100 centers across 220 locations in India had organized The Art of Living’s signature Happiness programs with Gurudev.
Touching upon the various aspects of modern living, Gurudev shared a few practical principles for healthier and happier living. Sharing wisdom with humor, participants learnt the skills to keep their energy high, maintain equanimity and enhance productivity.

“It was a truly wonderful experience to learn the simple tenets of joyful living directly from him. I feel very relaxed, calm, optimistic and happy after attending the program,” says Dipti Kariwala, an MBA professional who came to attend the program at the Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru. Agnihotran Chinta, a chemical engineer who joined the web telecast from Chennai says, “I have never felt so energized before! The Sudarshan Kriya was an amazing experience. Gurudev also spoke about youth suicide and depression and taught practical techniques to combat feelings of low self-esteem, interpersonal conflicts and violence. I feel its extremely relevant in modern times.”
The program, a blend of trend and tradition, offers practical tools for people to sustain their energy, happiness and help face the challenges of today’s fast-paced world.
The Sudarshan Kriya is a rhythmic breathing technique which removes deep-seated stressful toxins from the body. Many report feeling calmer, happier and more rested than before. Easy to practice, the techniques taught in the program ensure one takes health and happiness home.
“Many people wanted to experience The Art of Living program conducted directly by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shnakar. Technology made it possible to organize Anand Utsav through which thousands of people across 2100 locations could do the program. Its a huge one-of-a-kind event, and with the active participation of The Art of Living teachers and volunteers, it has turned out to be a great success,” says Rajesh Jagasia, National Director for The Art of Living Programs.
