Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir conducts Culture Camp
- A divine blessing for children of Gurugram
India is a land of saints. Indian culture is founded on the eternal spiritual values enunciated in the Vedic scriptures. From subsistence to evolution every facet of India civilization is deeply linked with exalted spiritual principles.
The modern Indian society has lost touch with its spiritual roots due to widespread westernisation. Consequently, life is merely considered a pursuit of material happiness. This is even more so for the newest generation.
Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir Culture Camp aims to connect the children of today to the advanced, highly developed spiritual heritage of India. It is the exalted values of life that define a civilization. In a world badly afflicted with moral impoverishment, revival of the ancient, eternal values is a crying need.
The Culture Camp had an impressive launch at the Play School & Day Care Creche, DLF City Phase 4 on Friday, 25 May 2018. About fifty children are attending the Culture Camp at Gurugram, scheduled for one and a half week.
The Culture Camp is a systematic approach to delivering knowledge in a way that children can enjoy and actively participate in.
The Camp consists of the following sessions.
Japa Mediation
The Camp begins at around 9 in the morning with chanting of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra 108 times. This is a form of meditation called Japa meditation. Performed by millions all over the world, Japa meditation is focussing one’s attention on reciting and hearing the sound of the Hare Krishna Mantra a fixed number of times. Vedic scriptures recommend this process for the Kali Yuga as the suitable means of deliverance in this fallen age.
Video Show & Quiz
Children then enjoy a video show featuring award-winning 3-D animation films. This is followed by a quiz about the video. This arouses great interest and children participate enthusiastically.
Values Session
The Culture camp consists of an important session on Values. Gleaned from the scriptures like Bhagavad-Gita, Mahabharata, Ramayana & the Hitopadesha and the teachings of Srila Prabhupada, the knowledge of values has a vital ennobling influence on children.
Arati & Sankirtana
This is an important feature of the Camp. Arati is performed here along with Sankirtna, which is singing of the Hare Krishna mahamantra to the accompaniment of traditional musical instruments. Children enjoy taking part in Arati & Sankirtana. They sing the Hare Krishna Mantra and dance joyfully. It is an especially invigorating part of the Camp
Games
Many interesting games engage children in applying physical and mental skills to situations. It is thrilling for the children and highly educative as well.
Art & Culture Modules
After lunch children start the ‘Module’ session. In this session kids are taught an art module of their choice. Four modules have been planned for the Culture Camps.
- Arts & Crafts
- Classical Dance
- English Drama
- Vocal Music
The theme in all these modules is devotional. They generally impart training in depicting the pastimes of Krishna. This enables children to get a hands-on experience of Krishna Lila.
