HH Dalai Lama has launched “Happiness Curriculum” in the syllabus of of Education in Delhi
The world spiritual leader and the Nobel Laureate his holiness Dalai Lama exhorted the people to respect human values and sentiments to generate “happiness” among all to further the establish peace, harmony and discard, hatred, jealousy and violence and destruction. His holiness Dalai Lama was speaking while launching revolutionary initiative – “happiness curriculum” in the School Education in all Delhi Government Schools in a function organized by Directorate of Education and State Council of Research and Training in the jam- packed atThyagraj Stadium today.
Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal was the Chief Guest while Dy. Chief Minister, Shri Manish Sisodia was Guest of Honour. Minister of Labour, Shri Gopal rai, Minister of Transport, Shri Kailash Gahlot, Minister of SC/ST Welfare, Shri Rajendar Pal Gautam, a large number of MLAs, Senior officers, Principals, Heads of Schools and Teachers were also present.
His holiness Dalai Lama also released and uncovered the happiness curriculum document on this occasion.
Appreciating the efforts of Delhi Government to initiate the “happiness curriculum”, he underlined the need for obtaining combine ancient and modern knowledge in order to give real, wonderful and useful knowledge to the students in the educational institutions.
His holiness Dalai Lama said that India has the capacity to combine the ancient and modern knowledge to present to the rest of the world for making a better world with happy and knowledgeful and kind hearted human beings.
His Holiness in his address recalled the glory of Indian history especially in education and said, “Tibetans are the “Chelas” of Indian knowledge and spiritualism and they are the loyal Chelas,”. He added that Kshamapada & amp; Vipasana are present in the ancient Indian tradition and by quoting Buddha, he stressed on investigating the reality rather than having blind faith.
He also said that if India can combine the ancient and modern knowledge of both ages, it can deliver peace and harmony.
His holiness Dalai Lama blessed the Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Dy. Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia by offering Angvastra and mementos.

Chief Minister, Shri Arvind Kejriwal giving details/reforms of his government on education, said that his government has done a lot to improve the quality and level of education in Delhi at war-footing level such as adding new classrooms, new school buildings, by imparting best training to the heads of schools and teachers and ensuring cleanness in all the schools and Now, our top priority will be implement the “happiness curriculum” in the schools in an effective manor to produce happy, creative and brilliant students, who could counter the evils like corruption and terrorism and to make a better world to live in.
He said that through happiness curriculum every class will have 45 minutes happiness class, which will include meditation and talk on patriotism.
Shri Kejriwal said that to launch this unique curriculum, his holiness Dalai Lama was the best choice for us and he is highly greatful of his holiness for accepting his proposal.
Shri Kejriwal took a dig on the education system started by Lord Macaulay 150 years back and said that it was only to create the students, who are just learning, repeating and passing and was meant for creating clerk only.
Dy. Chief Minister and Education Minister, Shri Manish Sisodia said that “happiness curriculum” will be a boon for all of us as the students after completing their education, will come out with full of energy, knowledge, happiness and confidence and they will create such an atmosphere of brotherhood, harmony, peace and ensure fullest development society.
He first talked about change in infrastructure to make learning environment conducive and comfortable. He cited an example of Russia where he stressed that education minister should focus on improving the quality of education rather than making marketing professionals. He referred to the conference of 45 Education Ministers, in which they discussed about corruption, terrorism and environmental issues while he shared that through education, all these issues can be easily resolved.
Shri Sisodia said that the team of experts was working tirelessly for preparing the “happiness curriculum” which was launched by the pious hands of his holiness Dalai Lama with his blessings to the Lakhs of students and teachers.
Shri Sisodia said that 10 Lakh school children and 50 thousand teachers will participate in “happiness curriculum” classes every day and they will ensure all round development of personalities of the students.
