The annual Navahnika brahmotsavams in the famous temple of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy at Srinivasa Mangapuram, about 15km from Tirupati off to a ceremonial start on Tuesday with the traditional Dhwajarohanam which took place in the auspicious Kumbha Lagnam.

Speaking on this occasion, TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal said, the temple has a marvelous historical background and was brought under the control of TTD in the year 1967. The annual brahmotsavams of this famous temple are being observed on par with Tirumala every year.

TTD has made elaborate arrangements for this grand religious fete as tens of thousands of devotees from Tirupati, Srinivasa Mangapuram and other surrounding villages take part in the Vahana sevas during the mega religious festival”, he added.

Floral decorations – a Special attraction

Meanwhile the floral decorations with the concept of Adiparasakti Devi with Trinity including Lord Brahma – the creator, Lord Maha Vishnu-the Protector and Lord Siva-the Destroyer offering prayers to the Mother Goddess with varieties of flowers remained special attraction during the annual brahmotsavams.

 

 

The ancient temple of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy is located in Srinivasa Mangapuram, about 12 km to West Tirupati in Chittoor district. This ancient temple which is under the control of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is maintained by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams since 1967 and utsavams and rituals in this temple are being performed since 1981.

Today, Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple is considered sacred, next to Tirumala temple. Those who are unable to make it to Tirumala can have darshan of Lord Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy to fulfill their wish. As the name indicates, this temple carries significance for newlywed couples. Newlyweds offer prayers first in this temple as this is the place where Lord Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy with Goddess Padmavathi Devi stayed for six months, just after their wedding.
